This is a complete package that has a booklet and week by week programme for Unit one as well as an engaging 18 page booklet covering the A1 part of the spec, which you can add to or alter, getting students to print it off in advance of the lessons.
There are 8 PowerPoints included covering all sections in more detail and having embedded videos and corresponding activities in the booklet to complete either as a classroom activity or a homework task. There are also relevant exam questions from past papers to get them in the swing. This booklet took two whole days to put together so it is guaranteed to save you time and enable you to mould resources to your own teaching style. There is also an mock exam paper for A1 and mark scheme to check progress too.
Content covered
Growth and development are different concepts:
principles of growth – growth is variable across different parts of the body and is measured using height, weight and dimensions
principles of development – development follows an orderly sequence and is the acquisition of skills and abilities.
In infancy (0–2 years), the individual develops gross and fine motor skills:
• the development of gross motor skills
• the development of fine motor skills
• milestones set for the development of the infant – sitting up, standing, cruising, walking.
In early childhood (3–8 years), the individual further develops gross and fine motor skills:
riding a tricycle, running forwards and backwards, walking on a line, hopping on one foot, hops, skips and jumps confidently
turns pages of a book, buttons and unbuttons clothing, writes own name, joins up writing.
In adolescence (9–18 years), the changes surrounding puberty:
• development of primary and secondary sexual characteristics
• the role of hormones in sexual maturity.
In early adulthood (19–45 years), the individual reaches physical maturity:
physical strength peaks, pregnancy and lactation occur
perimenopause – oestrogen levels decrease, causing the ovaries to stop producing an egg each month. The reduction in oestrogen causes physical and emotional symptoms, to include hot flushes, night sweats, mood swings, loss of libido and vaginal dryness.
In middle adulthood (46–65 years), the female enters menopause:
• causes and effects of female menopause and the role of hormones in this o effects of the ageing process in middle adulthood.
In later adulthood (65+ years), there are many effects of ageing:
health and intellectual abilities can deteriorate

This is a resource package for teaching the New BTEC HSC Level 3, Unit 1 Human Growth &Development through Life Stages, A4 Social Development and covers all that’s on the spec. T-Level Health 2024-2025 complete pick-up-and-run teaching package for B1.15, B1.26 and B1.27. If you are following my SoW it is for week beginning 17th March 2025.
There is a 77-slide presentation with discussion points, embedded videos and guidance and a 21-page student booklet for notes. The first slide is guidance of research requirements on different slides for your reference. There is a paired activity and interactive questions and research tasks throughout. This package is best suited for lessons where students have internet access.

BTEC Tech Award Level 1/2 Health and Social Care Component 1 - a complete teaching package to pick-up and run with. This covers what is needed for the life stage Early Adulthood (19-45 years-olds)
If you are following my SoW 2024-2025 , this is Week 5, there is less in the content delivery so this week is an opportunity to start preparing students for their PSA Task 1. There are activities and worksheets to work on independently.
All the spec content for Early Adulthood is included in one presentation with 39 slides which have animation so text is delivered in chunks. These cover the expected key characteristics in each of the PIES classifications. To start with there is a starter activity.
There is a second presentation of 14 slides which guides students through their first PSA application activity. There other choices of assessment practice to.
The content covered is:-

o physical: peak physical fitness, full height reached, sexual maturity reached, women at their most fertile

All the spec content relates to PIES development with the first presentation which is 32 slides covering all the A2.Emotional content. There is an A3 summary sheet for students notes and reference when completing the PSA Task 2. The second presentation is 26 slides and covers the below content of the A2.Social Factors. If you are following my SoW 2024-2025, this is Week 14, this now relates to PSA Task 3a (Life Event PIES) and 3b (Support) . There are homework tasks for both Level 1 and Level 2 which are adaptable to suit your need eg.date There are activities aimed at building up student notes to have with them in the PSA and capture understanding and can be referred to whilst students complete the PSA Controlled Assessment. There is the continued literacy support with useful vocabulary, again and a case study example PIES.
There’s a 39 slide presentation introducing life events to get students thinking to start with.
All the spec content relates to Life Event impacting on a person experiencing a point from the Health & Wellbeing category and suitable support. There is also points that guides students to considers personality impacting on coping strategies. This detail is included in the 40 slide presentation which has pause points for student contribution and breaks to complete their notes table which they can refer to in the actual PSA. T-Level Health Year 2 Occupational Specialism Assessment Supporting Adult Nursing Activity to guide students about the importance of building a detailed reflective portfolio using the Gibbs Reflective cycle.
Advice for students;
When building your reflective portfolio note the themes and the K&S points clearly at the top.
Collate these into an order you will understand, perhaps using folder dividers. This clear labeling will speed up finding and referring to them in your Assignment 3, you have only 45 minutes to prepare.
Relate aspects of the reflection to things like a specific part of the NMC code, the CQC 5 fundamental standards, legislation, policy and the 6C’s.

All the spec content relates to PIES development in a 29 slide presentation which has pause points for student contribution and breaks to complete set tasks in pairs or as individuals. The package covers the complete content for the part of the spec A2.Environmental factors. There is a comparison task for students notes and reference relating to the one factor in two different life stages as per the assessment criteria for Task 2. To finish there is a Mock Task 2 practice assessment to prepare students for their actual controlled assessment PSA.
